Born in Romania in December 1956, immigrated to Israel in 1960.
Studied at the Midrasha College for Art Teachers, 1979-1981.
Has presented about 40 solo exhibitions, including at the Israel Museum and Tel Aviv Museum, and taken part in more than 100 group exhibitions in Israel and around the world.
In 1992 participated in Documenta IX in Kassel, Germany.
In 1999 represented Israel at the Venice Biennale, Italy.
Has won several prizes awarded by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture, and in 2020 received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
He has been teaching in the Department of Art since 1989 and twice served as Head of Department. He has also been Head of the Masters Program, University Treasurer, Member of the Senate, and Member of many professional committees at the University and outside it. Since 2020 has been Head of the School of Arts.
Married and father of 4 children.
